Press Conference held with Speaker of the City Council and Mayoral Candidate Christine Quinn and Rosie Mendez at 344 E.28th Street on her plan for her first 100 days as Mayor on Public Housing. She would fire John Rhea NYCHA Chairman, as well as eliminate the repair backlog. As a supporter of Christine Quinn for Mayor, Rosie supports both of these actions by her in those first 100 days.
As Chairperson of the Public Housing Committee and member of the Housing and Buildings Committee, Rosie has done many things to help with some of the issues in both Housing and Public Housing for her district.
During her time in City Council she has been part of the action to make sure landlords face higher fines for illegally converting apartments into hotel rooms. She has fought for the tax abatements; low interest loans and capital funding were granted to Special Needs Housing (People with AIDS), Mitchell-Lama, and Limited Equity Cooperatives.
She has fought for all these things and well continue too do this for the next four years.
